微型马雕像

这是一件极为精致且罕见的微型马雕像。作品雕刻工艺成熟，马的造型虽然经过概括和简化，但依然能清楚地感受到马的力量感。肌肉线条处理细腻自然，使这件体量极小的作品看起来生动而富有表现力。

这样的微型雕像，可能被当作护符在仪式中使用或是在日常生活中随身携带。它有可能与某种与马相关的信仰或习俗有关，用来祈求繁衍顺利，或狩猎与行动的成功。

在大平原印第安人的社会中，马占据着极为重要的地位。马的出现，使他们能够迅速穿越北美中西部广阔的平原，不仅便于远行和作战，也极大提高了猎捕野牛的效率。虽然马是在16世纪初由西班牙征服者引入北美大陆的，但到18世纪末，大平原印第安人已经熟练掌握了对马的驯养与使用。

推测为大平原印第安人制作
材质：板岩，表面覆盖自然形成的包浆，呈现出长期使用和年代磨损的痕迹。
未发现现代工具加工的迹象；在高倍放大观察以及紫外光和自然光条件下，其表面状态与包浆均符合年代特征。

Miniature Horse Effigy

An exceptionally fine and rare miniature effigy of a horse. Carved with undeniable Maestria, the minute animal shows off its equine power through the extreme stylization of the animal and the fine modeling of the musculature. This minute effigy was possibly used as a charm both in ritual contexts as well as carried on the person in more mundane moments. It is possible that this minute masterpiece of sculpture was created for a type of “horse magic” that might enhance breeding or capture.

Horses were of the greatest importance allowing the Plains Indians to cover at speed the vast expanses of the Mid-West, traveling far to fight their enemies as well as hunting the great bison. The horse was introduced into the North American continent only in the early 16th century by the Spanish conquistadors yet by the end of the 18th century the Plains Indians had already mastered the horse to an undisputed degree.

Slate with a fine patina of wear and age. There are no traces of modern tools apparent and under high magnification and both UV and normal light the patina and surface are completely within time-line expectations.

Le docteur Gabriel Sempé (1901-1990) était un amoureux des arts que tout intéressait. Ce grand collectionneur avait transmis sa passion à son fils Robert et sa belle-fille Françoise. Une grande vente fut réalisée  par Jean Roudillon à l’hôtel des ventes de Tarbes le 30 mai 2013, sous le marteau de maître Henri Adam et plus de 500 objets furent dispersés ce jour avec succès. En 2023 Francoise Sempé nous confia la fameuse collection de Valdivia et de Mezcala de son beau-pérè que nous vendîmes avec Maîtres Rois & Vauprès le 4 octobre à l’hôtel Drouot. Là aussi ce fut un succès et nous avions obtenu la cinquième plus belle enchère mondiale pour un sculpture Mezcala. Aujourd’hui Françoise Sempé nous confie à nouveau la « suite et fin » de la collection du docteur Gabriel Sempé que sont plus de 300 objets de petite taille certes mais de belle qualité, cachés puis oubliés dans des cartons et qui attendaient leur redécouverte ici. De l’antiquité, avec Neith et Horus côtoyant une idole cycladique, en passant par l’Afrique des ethnies Kongo et Pomdo ; des Haïda de la North West Coast aux Taïnos des Caraïbes, des modillons du Poitou aux tsuba du Japon et de toute l’Amérique précolombienne des Sinu, Quimbaya, Olmèque et autres Mochica, c’est le monde entier de l’art ancien qui est condensé dans cette collection. Un court film sur le docteur Gabriel Sempé avait été tourné en 1963 (INA du 15/09/1963). Entre autres objets, on peut y apercevoir le petit torse romain de Vénus que nous présentons, posé sur une table avec d’autres objets de la collection.

Doctor Gabriel Sempé (1901-1990) was an art lover who was interested in everything. This great collector had passed his passion on to his son Robert and his daughter-in-law Françoise. A large sale was carried out by Jean Roudillon at the auction house in Tarbes on May 30, 2013, under the hammer of Maître Henri Adam and more than 500 objects were successfully dispersed that day. In 2023, Francoise Sempé entrusted us with her father-in-law’s famous collection of Valdivia and Mezcala which we auctionned with Maîtres Rois & Vauprès on October 4th at Hotel Drouot. Again it was a success and we had obtained the fifth highest worldwide auction price for a Mezcala sculpture. Today Françoise Sempé entrusts us again with the "continuation and last segment" of the collection of Doctor Gabriel Sempé that are more than 300 objects of small size certainly but of beautiful quality, hidden then forgotten in boxes and and which were waiting to be rediscovered here. From antiquity, with Neith and Horus rubbing shoulders with a Cycladic idol, passing through the Africa of the Kongo and Pomdo ethnic groups; from the Haida of the North West Coast to the Tainos of the Caribbean, from the modillions of Poitou to the tsubas of Japan and from the pre-Columbian civilizations of the Sinu, Quimbaya, Olmec and other Mochica, it is the entire world of ancient art that is condensed in this collection.  A short film about Doctor Gabriel Sempé was shot in 1963 (INA of 15/09/1963). Among other objects, one can see the small Roman torso of Venus that we present in the sale, placed on a table with other objects from the collection.

Cette journée a pour objectif de faire un point de situation 20 ans après l’entrée en vigueur de la LTBC : regards critiques, évolutions et perspectives. Nous nous concentrerons sur ses acteurs, les notions fondamentales et les limites d’application de la loi ainsi que ses mesures organisationnelles. Adoptée pour protéger le patrimoine culturel suisse et lutter contre le commerce illicite
de biens culturels, la LTBC a profondément transformé les pratiques du marché de l’art, les responsabilités des institutions muséales, ainsi que le rôle de la Confédération et des cantons.
La conférence se penchera sur :
• Les notions fondamentales qui structurent le texte légal et leurs implications pratiques.
• Les acteurs clés de la mise en oeuvre de la LTBC (administrations, musées, marchands,
douanes, etc.), l’évolution de leur rôle, des attentes du public et des exigences règlementaires.
• Les outils et défis de la recherche de provenance.
• Les défis actuels et futurs face aux nouvelles attentes du public et aux réalités du marché
de l’art.
Cette journée a pour ambition de croiser les approches juridiques, pratiques et critiques, en réunissant des spécialistes issus du droit, de l’histoire de l’art, du marché de l’art, de la muséologie et des autorités publiques.

This list was originally created and compiled by Harry Beran, founder and former president of the Oceanic Art Society, Australia.

Some private collectors and dealers inscribed registration numbers or other information on artworks in their collections. Some public institutions also did so and later de-accessioned some of their objects. Some early field collectors attached labels to artworks that are now in private collections. The following is a list of such numbers and labels whose authors have been identified and some more whose authors have not yet been identified. As to the registration numbers of public institutions: only those of institutions which have de-accessioned objects are included.

This 5th edition of FIRST VIEW will take place from July 3 to August 31, 2025 at the initiative of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, the Jeudi des Beaux-Arts gallery association (JDBA) and the professional committee of art galleries (CPGA). The event aims to create a first-line link between young graduate artists from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the art galleries that coexist in the same district. Free and visible to all, day and night, FIRST VIEW offers a journey of discovery and a look at young creation : photography, drawing, painting, sculpture...available to see and admire 24/7 in the gallerie windows of the Saint Germain - Beaux Arts neighborhood of Paris VI... A cash prize is offered by the Jeudi des Beaux-Arts association of galleries to the laureat selected by a jury composed of three eminent collectors and curators, and the art-supply specialist MARIN offers a prize composed of well needed art supplies to the young artist selected by the jury. The Laureat is announced on July 3rd in the early evening.
