Human Head Button

E 386) A minute but powerfully carved human head button or ornament. The features are finely rendered offering a strong and alert expression. The rear is drilled out to form an attachment point.

Alaska or Western Canada.
Thulé period c. 1500-1800 AD.
Walrus tusk (Odobenus rosmarus divergens) with a fine honey colored patina.
3,5 x 2 x 1,5 cm.
