A fine example of a fighting club or totokia, used reportedly not only in battle but also as a specialists assassins weapon. Fiji, Polynesia. Iron wood (casuarina esquisetifolia), carved with metal tools with a superb patina of use and age. There is an old natural flaw in the pommel rising into the grip which has acquired a very fine patination through age and handling. 73 x 14 Ø cm. 18th/19th century.
